FAQs
Who does Stay Tuned for Vets serve?
We welcome all who are military-affiliated — including Veterans, active duty service members, reservists, and National Guard — along with their direct family members. Our programs are designed to support the military community at every stage of service and beyond, fostering connection, creativity, and healing through the arts.
Do I need to be related to a military member to participate?
Yes. Participation in our free classes is reserved for military-affiliated individuals and their direct family members (spouse, partner, child, sibling, or parent). This helps us focus our resources on the community we were created to serve.
What types of programs do you offer?
Our programs include a wide range of creative outlets such as art classes, music lessons, movement and dance workshops, comedy, creative writing, and more. Offerings may vary based on instructor availability and location.
How do I know if there are open spots in a class?
Class sizes are limited and depend on instructor availability. When you register, we’ll confirm your spot or let you know if you’ve been placed on a priority waitlist for the next session.
Do I need previous art or music experience to join?
Not at all! Our programs are open to all skill levels. Whether you’re picking up a paintbrush for the first time or have been playing guitar for years, you’ll find a welcoming space to explore your creativity.
Why art therapy?
Creative expression can be a powerful tool for mental wellness. Through music, art, writing, and movement, veterans and families can reduce stress, build resilience, and process experiences in meaningful ways.
Are classes in-person or virtual?
We offer both. Many of our classes are hosted in Houston, Texas, but we also provide virtual workshops that you can join from anywhere.
Is there a cost to participate?
Most classes are free for military-affiliated participants and their direct family members, thanks to generous sponsors and community support. In some cases — such as when art materials or special supplies are required — a small fee may apply, and this will always be clearly indicated in advance.
How can I become an instructor or volunteer?
If you have a creative skill to share — whether in music, art, writing, or performance — we’d love to hear from you. You can apply through our website’s instructor interest form.
